The Growing Gently Village Monthly Meet Up

Blue Mountains Parents of young children:
You are invited to the Growing Gently Village Meet Up.

Meet like-minded parents. Share your story. Be met with compassion. Learn about how to make your days more enjoyable. Get information about responsive parenting, infant sleep and looking after your well-being.

Our first meet up is Tuesday 26 July. We will meet every fourth Tuesday of the month at Mt Riverview Hall from 10am-midday.

Casual rate is $15 or annual membership is $100

The Blue Fringe Short Short Film Festival

The Blue Fringe Short Short Film Festival is part of The Blue Fringe Art and Literature Festival which this year is celebrating its 30th anniversary.

The festival hopes to celebrate mental wellbeing in the Blue Mountains by giving young people the chance to express themselves in a non-judgemental environment, highlighting the importance of creativity and community.

Young people are invited to submit a short film less than 60 seconds, shot on smartphones.

The entries will be screened at The Wentworth Falls TAFE in October during the Blue Fringe Festival with $1000 in prizes.

This year's theme is "So Much Beauty" but can be interpreted in anyway you'd like.

An Evening With George Mann

In the Blue Mountains for one night only, George Mann (US) is a songwriter's singer who would just as soon share stories and songs from the long history of folk music as sing his own songs.His concerts are singalong sessions as well as history lessons.

He has produced albums featuring such folk music legends as Utah Phillips, Pete Seeger and Tom Paxton, and produced national tours of the US and Australia in honour of the Almanac Singers (2013) and Joe Hill (2015).

George brings his experience as a union organiser and educator to his concerts - stories and songs about real events and the struggle for a better life.

He has played the Illawarra Folk Festival several times and performed for most of the folk clubs in Australia, and will be at the Kangaroo Valley Folk Festival and touring Australia in October 2022.

Blue Space Film Festival

Blue Space Film Festival is coming to Mt Vic Flicks vintage cinema on the 21st and 22nd of October 2022. Some of the movies to be screened haven't been out of the vault for years. Titles include: enviro space classic Silent Running starring Bruce Dern; David Cronenberg's Videodrome; 70s pandemic nightmare vision The Andromeda Strain, based on the novel by Michael Crichton; visually amazing and terrifying 80s version of The Thing starring Kurt Russell; schlock horror fun with The Creature from the Black Lagoon; and more! Blue Shorts Film Festival

Mount Vic Flicks hosts BSFF
A short film festival held in the Blue Mountains, Australia, celebrating Blue Mountains stories, storytellers and community.

Blue Shorts is a short film festival held in the Blue Mountains, Australia. It celebrates Blue Mountains stories and storytellers and is a celebration of local creativity and community. Local filmmakers of all levels are encouraged to submit short films - from young and emerging filmmakers to the many creatives we have in the area. We are looking for short films 6min over 12years of age and under 2minutes for 12years and under, in any genre and style. Films are due to FilmFreeway on Sunday 11th Sept by midnight.
Films can be entered from residents from Lapstone to Lithgow.
The festival screening will be held on Sat 12th Nov 2022 at the beautiful Mount Vic Flicks in Mt Victoria with an awards presentation after the screening. Blue Shorts is brought to you in partnership with Blackheath Area Neighbourhood Centre, Mount Vic Flicks and Local Film Makers.
