In Memory Walks our project starts by simply asking people to offer to take one of us on a walk of their choosing. That is, you invite us.
It should be a favourite walk that you are familiar with or that holds significance for you. It needn’t belong and it doesn’t have to be a bushwalk, it could be in the town environment, but within The Blue Mountains Municipality.
Alan Schacher and WeiZen Ho are both performing artists based in Katoomba.
The purpose of this project is to investigate how the act of walking with another person in a familiar environment stirs up memories through bodily activation. These will include memories of other times and other places. We simply want to share those thoughts and memories.
The project will develop further to workshops and a community processional event, but only for those who wish to participate. Others may just stop at one walk without any obligation.

For more details and to offer to take us for a walk please, contact one of us :

Our project is part of a research residency titled What Persists, supported by Critical Path, a Choreographic Research Centre based in Sydney.
Memory Walks will explore walking in the different ways that it activates body memories.
